初めてここにきた時は壊れた家はそのまま、
焼け焦げた車を積み重ねて、車が1台だけ通る道路スペースを作っていました。
その時はどうしてもカメラを向けることはできませんでした。
これは何度目かの訪問のときです。
周りの大きい瓦礫だけ片付けた後、ポツンと残っている建物。
ただ、どうして、どうして、とつぶやくことしかできませんでした。

The first time I came here, the wrecked houses were untouched.
The burned-out cars had been stacked up, making just enough space for one car to pass through.
At the time, I just couldn’t bring myself to take any pictures. I took this shot a few visits later.
The large debris had been cleared away, and there stood this building all alone.
I could only ask myself over and over again: Why? Why?
